You are almost there. DON'T SCREW IT UP! Do your homework, pass your tests, get your hours, turn in those pesky monthly and quarterly work reports and get out of here!! After five long hard years of grueling work and dedication (by the instructors hahaha!), we look forward to seeing you at graduation. Don't mess it up by being lazy.
Below you will find some information you are all dying to know...
HOW TO BECOME A JOURNEYMAN
Some important things to know about being able to take your Washington and Oregon State Exams are listed below. Please, please feel free to call the Training Center office if you have ANY questions about the procedure.
Washington State JW Exam
- You must have 8,000 hrs.
- Once you have 8,000 hrs, request your Affidavit of Experience from Deona
- Bring your signed and notarized affidavit to L&I.
- Pay the $90.00 fee
- Once approved by L&I you will receive paperwork in the mail telling you how to contact PSI, the testing facility to schedule your test.
- There will be an ADDITIONAL fee from PSI to take the test.
- Once you pass both sections of the exam....BRING, FAX, OR EMAIL, your test scores to the Training Center as soon as possible, or you will not be uprated to Journeyman.
Oregon State JW Exam
- You must complete and pass the WA State JW Exam and give your scores to Deona.
- Upon completing the program, let Deona know how you wish to obtain your Oregon Journeyman Electrical license and the correct Application will be provided (Reciprocal application available 6 months after you have received your WA EL-01 license).
- While waiting for this letter, it is advised that you get a passport-style photo (2"x2") as it is required.
- The fee for the Oregon JW State Exam is $100.00
PLEASE NOTE: If you are an Oregon Resident...you need to obtain your Oregon JW License to receive your uprate to JW Status. You STILL HAVE TO turn in your Affidavit to WA Department of LNI to document your 8,000 hours. Contact the Training Center with any questions...it's tricky.
